Welcome to IFWAI (Institute for Writing and AI). By accessing or using the platform, you agree to these Terms.
§ 01—Use of the Platform
IFWAI is a platform for structured inquiry into writing, authorship, and AI.
You agree to use the platform lawfully and respectfully.
You may not:
- — Post unlawful, harmful, or abusive content.
- — Attempt to disrupt, manipulate, or misuse the platform.
- — Impersonate others or misrepresent your identity.
- — Attempt to bypass access controls or membership restrictions.
We reserve the right to moderate, remove, or restrict access to content at our discretion.
§ 02—Accounts
Some features require an account.
You are responsible for:
- — maintaining account security,
- — all activity under your account.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.
§ 03—Membership
IFWAI offers free and paid membership tiers.
- — Free membership provides access to selected content, inquiries, and participation features.
- — Paid membership provides expanded access to content, research participation, and community features.
Fees may change over time. Unless otherwise required by law, payments are non-refundable.
§ 04—User Submissions & Research Participation
By submitting content (including survey responses, writing samples, or discussion contributions), you retain ownership of your work.
You grant IFWAI a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to:
- — host and display your submissions on the platform,
- — reproduce and format submissions for research and platform operation,
- — analyze and aggregate submissions for research purposes,
- — publish anonymized excerpts or summaries in research outputs or public-facing materials.
Where content is featured publicly, we may remove identifying information or present it anonymously at our discretion.
Participation in research is voluntary unless explicitly stated otherwise.
§ 05—Content Use and Restrictions
All content on IFWAI (including research outputs, member-only materials, and platform content) is provided for personal, non-commercial use unless explicitly authorized.
You may not, without prior written permission:
- — reproduce, republish, or redistribute IFWAI content,
- — sell or commercially exploit IFWAI content,
- — systematically scrape, extract, or archive platform materials,
- — share member-restricted content outside the platform.
This applies to both public and private areas of the platform.
§ 06—Intellectual Property
All IFWAI platform content (excluding user submissions) is owned by IFWAI or its licensors.
Nothing in these Terms grants you ownership rights over platform content.
Unauthorized use may result in legal action.
§ 07—Third-Party Services
IFWAI may use third-party services to operate the platform, including but not limited to:
- — hosting providers,
- — analytics tools,
- — communication tools,
- — external platforms (e.g., Workhubs or similar services),
- — payment processors (e.g., Stripe).
These services may process limited user data necessary for operation.
§ 08—Disclaimer
IFWAI is provided “as is” and “as available.”
We do not guarantee:
- — accuracy of content,
- — completeness of research outputs,
- — uninterrupted access to the platform.
Research content reflects inquiry and analysis, not professional or legal advice.
§ 09—Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, IFWAI is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the platform.
§ 10—Termination
We may suspend or terminate access to the platform at any time for violation of these Terms or misuse of the platform.
§ 11—Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms periodically.
Continued use of the platform constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
